Outhouses are awful. I will never go anywhere if I have to use one . Visiting my Grandma who lived on a property outside of Sydney Australia I had to use one . It was against a slope of sunny rock upon which snakes disported themselves . A large blue tongue lizard hung out on the rock right by the door , and some sort of big cocoon covered with twigs hung from the ceiling above the seat .I am a Newzealander and only used to gentle wildlife . No outhouse for me .

White Water Rafting on Smith River in Montana. Out door toilets damaged by bears. Kind of a regular thing. Human poo and bears ? The out door toilets are just that on the Smith; No House, no out house. Just the toilet bowl and seat. No tank, no lid, no house. Just a human sitting on a toilet in the GREAT out doors.

I was way up north in Canada at a wilderness hunting/fishing camp....one of the guys, Larrh from Quebec, got stuck in the outhouse when a giant bear kept circling it for a couple hours, would lay down then circle, repeat. Pushed on it, but by some miracle it didn't tip. Was only one of many bear incidents. Fortunately, no tushie biting occurred. Best story ever!! 🐾😂🐻
